Walnut Creek Optometry Group was established in 1951 by Dr. George Hurd. Dr. Bach-Kim Nguyen took over the practice in 1997 and has cared for patients in Walnut Creek and the surrounding Bay Area ever since.
We offer eye exams, contact lens fittings, eyewear, myopia control, and vision therapy — caring for every generation of the family, from a child's first exam to ongoing adult and senior eye health.

Dr. Nguyen graduated from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1995 and has cared for patients here since taking over the practice in 1997. She practices the full scope of optometry, with experience in comprehensive eye exams, advanced contact lens fittings, eye disease treatment, vision therapy, and co-management of LASIK, PRK, cataract, and glaucoma care. She speaks English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
Dr. Johnson earned her OD from UC Berkeley in 2001 and completed her residency in Binocular Vision and Pediatrics at UC Berkeley, where she serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor. Her focus areas include pediatric optometry, vision therapy, concussion rehabilitation, contact lens fitting, and dry eye management.
Dr. Husserl sees patients for primary eye care, comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings, vision therapy, and the management of ocular disease.
Dr. Nguyen was named the ACCCOS Optometrist of the Year by the Alameda and Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society.
