Our History
Walnut Creek Optometry Group was founded in 1951 by Dr. George Hurd, who built a practice known for its personal attention and continuity of care. In 1997, Dr. Bach-Kim Nguyen took over the practice, carrying forward that same commitment to the Walnut Creek community.
Over more than two decades, Dr. Nguyen has grown the practice into a full-scope optometry group — one that cares for infants, children, working adults, and seniors, often seeing multiple generations of the same family. In 2024, the Alameda and Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society recognized her with their Optometrist of the Year award.
Our team brings together optometrists, opticians, and front office staff who share the same approach: take the time, know your patients, and never rush the care.
How We Practice
Full-scope optometry
We handle routine care, specialty fittings, eye disease management, and surgical co-management — all under one roof.
Multi-generational care
Many of our patients have been coming in since childhood. We see families across every age group, from first exams to senior eye health.
Languages spoken
Our team speaks English, Spanish, and Vietnamese — so patients can describe what they're experiencing in the language they're most comfortable with.
Evidence-based treatments
We stay current. That means offering the latest options in myopia control, dry eye management, specialty contact lenses, and diagnostic imaging.
