Walnut Creek Optometry Group
Comprehensive Eye Exams
A full eye exam goes beyond the prescription. We measure your vision, check the health of the eye inside and out, and screen for conditions that often start without symptoms — from glaucoma and diabetic changes to macular degeneration. When surgery or specialist care is needed, we coordinate with trusted ophthalmologists.
What's included
- Visual acuity and refraction (distance and near)
- Binocular vision and eye teaming assessment
- Intraocular pressure screening for glaucoma
- Retinal evaluation with Optomap ultra-widefield imaging when indicated
- OCT imaging for the macula, optic nerve, and anterior segment
- Co-management for LASIK, PRK, cataract surgery, lid surgery, and glaucoma care
Beyond a vision screening
A roadside vision screening only tells you whether you can read letters across a room. It says nothing about the health of the eye itself — and most early eye disease has no symptoms. A complete exam looks for changes before they affect how you see.
Total health, not just vision
Your eye doctor will talk through your overall health and family history, any medications you take, and risk factors like blood pressure, diabetes, and sun exposure. These details shape what we look for during the exam and how often we recommend follow-up.
Recommended frequency
The American Optometric Association suggests a complete exam every two years for adults ages 18 to 60 with no known concerns, and every year after age 61 or as advised by your doctor.
